Did I just ruin my job offer?
After two weeks shy of a year of being unemployed, I was extended a job offer yesterday afternoon.
It is for a well-known market research data company as an associate client manager.
During the interview process, the recruiter asked about the on-site requirement, which would be around an hour commute each way. Given that I’ve been out of work for so long I just wanted to see how far I could make it in the interview process and think about logistics later. I don’t live in the city where the job would be. And as part of my negotiation after the offer, I asked about a relocation package. The recruiter said that there is none. And I was prepared for that because I saw other listings on their website that listed a very similar job, but as remote.
So I brought up those listings as my experience fit this job very well and if I might be a good candidate for those.
The recruiter seemed frustrated as I’m sure they were hoping to fill this position, which because of the location is not as desirable. For context, it is outside of New York City.
I feel very nervous that I may have ruined my opportunity. Any advice is welcome.
