TLDR: looking for a loving home for a \~6 yr old rescue GSD - a home who has the time and resources to give her the life she deserves.

This is Amara. She was found almost starving to death on an Oakland highway at 3 years old and was brought to the shelter. We were doing short term fostering through them at the time and intended to bring Amara home for the weekend because the kennels were full. We've had her for 3 years now with only a couple of potential adopters that ended up not being a good fit. Me and my partner are moving and won't be able to take care of her going forward, even though I love her so much and if I had the resources, I would keep her.

Amara is a very sweet girl, but she definitely has some issues to be aware of and ready to tackle better than I can:

* She is reactive and will pull/ bark / snap at dogs + some people while out on walks when she feels unsafe. she will require training either by a professional or if you are experienced with training rescues.
* She can become anxiously attached to her human.
* She has some kind of skin condition on her face that causes her to scratch and rub her face/snout on things until its raw sometimes. she would benefit from seeing a vet about this.
* She expresses her anal glands. and its stinky :) every other month or so we have been taking her to the SPCA to get them manually expressed so she doesn't express on her bed.

If those bullet points are okay with you as things to work on with her then I can tell you she is an amazing Dog, she is incredibly smart and picks up training VERY quickly (I just have no experience training dogs and don't have the money to spend on a professional) she is very sweet and loving, and very goofy when she feels safe. I truly believe she deserves to be loved and am hoping to find someone in the bay area to give her the life that I can't.
