Advice about indoor motor fan

So, recently I had had problems with my indoor AC unit short cycling and freezing up. I called a hvac technician. He checked my freon levels and said it was perfect. He then changed my thermostat to a newer digital thermostat. When it continued to short cycle He went and started looking around my AC unit. He said there was something wrong with the motor fan and it had to be replaced. They quoted me $1000 to order the part and install it. Is this a reasonable price? They also told me to keep my fan on until they replace the part.
