How reliable is AI-assisted research when working with EU law?

I've been thinking about how AI's starting to fit into legal research especially when you're dealing with EU legislation and CJEU case law.

The speed is obviously appealing. You can put a question into an AI tool. Get what looks like a useful starting point in seconds.. I think the harder part is what happens after that. You still need to go to the actual regulation, judgment or provision and make sure the source really supports what the AI said.

That seems important with EU law, where there can be different instruments, amendments, later judgments, and a lot of context that can easily get lost in a short AI-generated answer.

I'm affiliated with an AI research product, so I want to be transparent about that.. I'm not looking to turn this into a product pitch. I'm more interested in how people who actually work with EU law feel about using AI in their research.

Has AI genuinely made your research process easier, or does the time spent checking the sources take away most of the benefit?. How important is it to you to be able to go directly from an AI answer back to the underlying authority?

I'd be interested to hear how others here are approaching it, including people who have tried AI for research and decided it wasn't worth relying on.
