Anyone else get a strange metallic smell when extremely stressed/anxious?

I’ve been under a crazy amount of stress lately. The biggest trigger is that pretty much all of my friends have already secured their internship spots and are just waiting to start, while I’m still stuck in the application phase, waiting on responses, and constantly worrying if I’ll even get accepted anywhere. Watching everyone move forward while I feel stuck in limbo is honestly taking a toll on me.

Because of this constant anxiety, I noticed something weird. Whenever I put my fingers near my nose, I smell this distinct metallic scent. At first I thought my hands were dirty, so I washed them thoroughly, but even after washing, when the stress spikes, I can still smell it faintly.

Has anyone else experienced phantom metallic smells or sensory quirks when dealing with heavy stress or waiting-period anxiety? How do you deal with the stress of feeling left behind by your peers?
