DIY flatbed

Just bought my first square body a 79 GMC K25 High Sierra I wanted to put a flat bed on for hay bales and general utility but wanted an idea of how others have done there's. If anyone could send me dimensions, pictures, advice that would be greatly appreciated. Also should the bed be welded directly to the frame or should I connect it into the current bed mounts?
