BBA graduate in India: Continue Data Analytics or switch to SAP ABAP?

Hi everyone!

I’m a recent BBA graduate in India and have just started learning Data Science. Since I’m still a beginner, I’m considering focusing first on Data Analytics by learning Excel, SQL, Power BI and Python, then possibly progressing toward Data Science later.

However, my family is encouraging me to switch to SAP ABAP because they believe it offers better and more stable employment. I don’t have a Computer Science or engineering background, and ABAP appears to be a completely different and specialized programming path.

My priorities are realistic entry-level opportunities, long-term career stability and the possibility of remote or international work in the future.

For people working in analytics:
● Is Data Analytics a realistic career for a BBA graduate in India?
● Would my business background be useful when applying for Data Analyst, Business Analyst, MIS or Reporting Analyst roles?
● Should I continue building analytics skills instead of switching to ABAP before giving this path a proper chance?
● What skills and projects should I prioritize to become employable as a fresher?

I would appreciate honest advice, especially from people who entered analytics without a technical degree.
