Endometriosis has spread up to my liver
Had a bilateral salpingectomy today. During the surgery they found that my endometriosis has spread up to my liver. It's not affected as of yet , but boy I wasn't expecting that. My gyn/surgeon told my husband (I was knocked out in the recovery area) that if this mirena IUD doesn't help , I'll need another surgery to remove the Endo from everything it's touching.
I'm a little sad. My previous obgyn refused to take a look , and when she would do ultrasounds to check my IUD she would say the ultrasound looks fine I don't see Endo. I was very informed that Endo doesn't always show up on transvaginal or standard ultrasound. I felt like she dismissed it , and these last 4 years seeing her was a waste. My new gyn took me seriously, made a plan, and didn't give me any pushback on anything. This explains why I'm having unexplained abdominal pain and no one knew why. While I'm happy to know what's going on , I'm disheartened knowing this could have been slowed or helped before it got this far.
