I have absolutely no design background, but I’ve spent the last few months completely reworking my living and dining spaces and I think I’m finally at the point where I’m brave enough to share them.

I started out just wanting the house to feel warmer and more put together, but somewhere along the way I discovered that I really love old furniture, weird little objects, brass, dark wood, and mixing things that probably weren’t technically supposed to go together. I’ve tried my best to keep this small open floor plan cohesive so the rooms all have a slightly different feel but are speaking the same language.

A lot of this came from thrift stores, garage sales, Marketplace, antique stores, and just moving things around about 900 times until they finally felt right. I still will be replacing the media console with something that feels a little less light and modern.

I’m sure there are tons of things people would change. The TV is enormous, the house is small, and I definitely lean toward “more stuff” rather than minimalist. But for the first time since buying the house, it actually feels like mine. It’s cozy, a little weird, and full of things I genuinely like instead of things I bought because I thought a room was supposed to have them.

I’d love to hear what you think. I’m especially curious what style you’d call it because I’ve given up trying to name it

Curious to hear feedback from Reddit on my redesign
