Finding Chosen Champions

New player here. I’m about 2 weeks in. Have played in 3 events so far. Before tonight, my one complaint was that I had opened a vendetta vault, and about 15+ booster packs (mix of unleashed, spirit forged and vendetta) and started collecting but couldn’t find like any matching Legends and champion units!

Well, tonight I happened to pick up an origins booster box and opened it. Out of 24 more packs, I only got Leona’s legend and her matching champion unit.

I really dislike this system. Every other tcg I’ve played, you could buy packs over time and collect, then brew fun decks with your collection. Am I just extremely unlucky? How do you all feel about the chosen champion mechanic?

(I know I will have to ask around, trade or buy singles. Just want to discuss the mechanic and see what others think and feel about it)
