Insurance issue, wondering if anyone else has been through it

Dosing

Very annoyed. I’ve done eight shots at 2.5. After my first four shots I met with my doctor and since I had lost 14lbs and felt good we decided to keep me on 2.5. Because of my vacation and her vacation we decided to add a refill so that I would do 12 shots of 2.5 total then reevaluate. This was perfect for me because I’m going back to work from parental leave around shot 9 and did not want to experience side effects from titrating up my first weeks back.

CVS instantly filled it same day, no insurance issue whatsoever. Did shots 5-8. Today I went to put in the one refill and CVS blocked it. Called my doctors office because my PCP is out on vacation (hence why we agreed to the refill!!!) and they were so helpful, but insurance told them they wanted me to move to 5. I really don’t want to (I lost another 7lbs this month, I feel good, I have hunger cues and am eating well, and like I said before I want a month back at work with no new side effects) so one of the doctors fit me in for a telehealth to gather info for a peer to peer with insurance.

Well fucking UHC blew off the peer to peer and never called. My shot is due Monday.

My PCPs office honestly was great and took immediate action on a Friday afternoon, I don’t fault them at all. But apparently UHC would rather I go off the medication and potentially regain then get my preferred lower dose.

Of course UHC is closed over the weekend.

Has anyone faced this particular issue? Do you have any advice about anything I can do to get my shot on Monday? Tuesday is the absolute latest I’m comfortable taking it, I would feel okay doing a six day week and getting back onto my Monday schedule but I feel strong effects from 2.5 and going any shorter I don’t think would be wise.

If I’m forced to move to 5 should I space them out further? Is there anyway to lessen the dosage and effects when using an autoinjector? Maybe every 10 days? Any actions I can take to push my insurance? I’d be willing to consider a month out of pocket but I can’t get lily direct same day so I’m not sure that helps me either (CVS won’t even fill it due to insurance so it’s not like I can even just pay more through them.)

I’m panicking a bit. All advice very appreciated!
