Open to sit down and talk -USCIRF Commissioner offers dialogue with RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Will direct dialogue help or change anything?
There is a news that US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) Commissioner Dr Asif Mahmood recently stated he would be open to meeting RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat for open discussions:
"I would definitely be open to sit down if there is an opportunity. If arrangements can be made, we will be happy to sit with him, talk and bring more awareness. There might be some assurances and guarantees they can give which might change our mind... I have respect for India as a country, but groups like RSS are creating hate according to our knowledge and violating the Freedom of Religion, as well as Fundamental Human Rights."
Given the strong presence and influence of the Sangh Parivar across Coastal Karnataka, international reports and statements like this often spark intense debate locally.
Do you think direct, formal engagement between international bodies like the USCIRF and the RSS leadership could build mutual understanding?
Or do foreign monitoring organizations lack an understanding of local ground realities, cultural dynamics, and Indian grassroots politics?
Can international dialogues ever change perceptions on either side, or are both positions already too rigid?
Share your thoughts civilly in the comments.
