Is there any visual/audio mods that are usable for multiplayer?

I know that if you have mods installed it basically locks you out of multiplayer unless everyone has the same mod installed but I always thought it's only that way because of mod adding new units or mechanics that aren't in the game.

So will a simple audio/visual mod like some lighting changes or some new voice lines just be the same like will it lock you out of mp or are there some mods out there that are mp friendly?
