Is mbbs the right path for the life I want?
**Background:** So I am currently a class 12 student who has been preparing for neet since class 11. Nobody forced me, I myself wanted this but before I understood what it meant. At like..class 6. My preparation is very average but if I lock in properly from now I might be able to get a good enough college.
**Information**: Now i am a type of person who has always been the star student. I thrive in public speaking, performing arts and till class 10 I was great in studies too. The first 18 years of my live has not been very eventful and I feel like I have been living stagnant. I want to travel, I want to see the world, I want to be able to enjoy my youth to the fullest. I am not really very interested in "meaningful career", "societal respect", or "stable life". Don't get me wrong there is nothing bad about them but these do not excite me much. I do want stability but not at the cost of my life. I do not want a monotonous life of study eat work sleep repeat. I stop being useful if life becomes monotonous. That Indian dream of govt job, respect, stable job feels hollow to me. I used to think engineering will get me a 9 to 5 which is not good so I chose medicine but medicine will make me do 48 hour shifts. Now I am contemplating if i should work hard the rest of the months and get into neet. There is also the thing that I want to be able to have location flexibility which medicine does not give. I have to figure out licensing and stuff if i decide to move to another country. It seems like a very big commitment.
**Question**: Now people who have done mbbs and people who are living the doctor dream, what do you think I should do?
I know it is supposed to be a decision i make myself and I will. But I am asking that if you were in my position and you knew what mbbs can give you, what would you do?
