Help obtaining quotes

Is this a super busy time of year or is obtaining a response from a GC for a quote / initial contact just take awhile?

This feels stupid to type out but I’m at a loss but over the past 4-5 weeks we’ve been trying to obtain quotes / initial responses back from contractors on deck builds and have only had one person message back and then provide a quote.

We’ve reached out to people that have been recommended, franchise-y type companies, etc.

I’ve tried vague requests to just get people to the house to look at the area and discuss, I’ve done detailed messages over email, I’ve tried calling or texting (this is to different people not all the same person). We’re simply looking to build a covered deck on the back of our house in SC. I would think a decent job but nothing crazy or super small.

Is it usually this hard to get a quote.. or does anyone have tips?
