Treatment options in the UK?
I'm pretty sure I have UAERS, my fatigue upon waking even after 8 hours sleep is absolutely debilitating. I wake up feeling ABSOLUTELY EXHAUSTED to the point I can hardly function during the day and spend most of the day on the sofa in between walking my dog. Some days I wake up with energy but the majority are wipeouts.
I don't drink alcohol or caffeine and hardly have any sugar etc. in my diet. I walk x4 a day with my dog at a fast pace so I get daily exercise.
I also suffer with CPTSD, autism & ADHD symptoms, and have extremely vivid dreams every night. So I'm sure that's also all contributing to my general permanent exhaustion. I've always just assumed I have to live with this as a CPTSD/neurodiversity/my brain won't switch off/my dreams are so vivid...
But I think there must be something underlying physically too? And UAERS makes sense. A dentist previously prescribed me a mouth guard because she noticed my teeth looked like I had been grinding them at night. My tongue has those indentations around the edge where my mouth is small. As a child/teenager I had years and years of braces on my teeth for cosmetic reasons which was an awful experience. My jaw is small and it always looks like I have a double chin from the side aspect, even though I am a small female and nowhere near overweight.
I also have medical trauma and do not trust professionals. I'd rather try and deal with this myself with research and evidence online. So, what are the options in the UK for treatment?
I know I won't be able to sleep with a CPAP, I already struggle with extreme sensory issues related to sleep.
I think trying a MAD would be best for me. I see you can get mouldable ones like the SomnoGuard, and if this seems to help, I could explore getting a custom made one?
I might also struggle to sleep with this in my mouth though, also related to sensory issues. Surgery would be a good long term solution for me, but how to access that in the UK? Is it available on the NHS?
