App Idea: A Local-First Media Archiver & Library Powered by yt-dlp
Hey Reddit,
The idea is a local-first media archiver powered by yt-dlp, focused on bulk downloading, recovering deleted or privatized content, and quickly building an offline library with videos, subtitles, live chats, comments, and metadata.
A typical use case:
- Paste 1 or 10 links and let multiple workers download them in parallel, with proxy support to reduce the risk of limits or bans.
- Archive entire playlists or even channels.
- Subscribe to channels and automatically download new uploads on a schedule.
It’s a web-based app:
- Dashboard: to manage and browse your library (like Youtube, Twitch or Kick)
- Minimal Downloader: when you just want to download something quickly.
Would a locally hosted app like this be useful? And what would you call it?
