Discussion: Why Sylus deserves better from the narrative (and why you are more than enough for him!)
Hi everyone! After reading through many discussions here, I’ve noticed a lot of players feeling insecure or thinking Sylus wouldn’t like them because their personalities are completely different from the canon MC. I wanted to make this post to remind you that you are not only enough, but from a psychological perspective, you might actually be a much better match for him!
A lot of people defend MC’s cold attitude and constant pouting by repeating "but he's a murderer, it's canon." Yes, Sylus is a morally grey criminal in the wider lore, but he never brings that criminality into his personal relationship with her. He is consistently supportive, attentive, and puts himself on the line for her. In a real-world dynamic, no emotionally mature, high-confidence man would tolerate being constantly pushed away, put into a "monster" box, or given a cold shoulder after risking his life or health for his partner.
Just because the writers use the forced "enemies-to-lovers" friction for dramatic pacing doesn't mean it’s the only way to match his energy. Sylus has a deep history and carries a lot of weight—he doesn't need another emotional wall to fight against. He deserves warmth, open appreciation, and genuine connection.
So if you are someone who plays with the traditional self-insert style and wishes you could just openly love, understand, and return his affection without the stubborn ego or the constant skepticism—please don't feel discouraged by the canon MC's traits. Your emotional maturity and willingness to give him a safe, warm partnership is exactly what a real-world dynamic like his would actually thrive on. You are definitely more than enough for him! 💕
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the narrative forces MC to be a bit too unfair to him sometimes? Let's keep it civil, I'm curious to hear your perspectives!
