I replaced the crystal on my Citizen Garrison with green dial.

For me, this was the watch’s main weakness.
Don’t get me wrong - the original crystal is ok, and the legibility is good too.
But in poor lighting, it had this foggy effect that cheapens the look for me.

The new crystal completely changed how I perceive the watch.
Before, it was just a good watch. Now I’d say it’s almost perfect 🙂

I’d still love to see the case size reduced a little. 40 mm would be ideal. But I’m happy with it as it is.
I’m an old man - in my 30s my old eyes appreciate those big, highly legible numerals.

I originally wanted a double-sided AR crystal, but my watchmaker couldn’t find one that would fit. So we agreed on a single-sided AR crystal instead.
And I’m very happy with the result.

Now I can take photos in poor lighting without having to look for the perfect angle to avoid reflections.

The whole thing cost me $150 for the both crystal + installation.
I think you could probably buy the crystal itself for around $50 and do it yourself, but I don’t have the tools to measure the crystal properly or install it.

Was it worth it?
Probably not.
Does it make me happy?
Absolutely yes 😄

I took these photos with no effort, in a single take, in a dark room.
That means a lot to me…
