why are stores only open during first shift hours when many workers share that schedule?
i've noticed this a lot lately: stores around me mostly seem to run on first shift hours, even though a lot of us work first shift too. it feels like the timing is built for a different kind of day.
my guess is it boils down to staffing costs and predictable foot traffic. mornings bring the most shoppers, so some places stick to those hours to save on wages and supplies. after work crowds? not so much, at least where i am. one cafe i pass daily has a big line at dawn, then a sleepy storefront by the evening.
honestly, i might be missing something, or this is just how the industry trades off demand and cost. what would you change if you could tweak store hours in your area?
