Why I started Reimagine Indian Education
I started this community because I was trying to answer a pretty simple question:
What should education actually be for?
That question eventually turned into AEGF — the Adaptive Education Governance Framework — my attempt to rethink how India's education system could be governed and improved.
But while working on it, I kept running into a bigger realisation:
I can't and probably shouldn't try to figure this out alone.
Because Indian education is too large, diverse and deeply connected to people's lives for one person to have all the answers.
A student knows things a policymaker might never see.
A teacher understands things a student might never notice.
A researcher can challenge what both of us assume.
Someone working in a completely different field might come up with an idea none of us considered.
That's why this community exists.
I don't want this to be another place where we just say “the Indian education system is broken.” There are plenty of reasons to say that. But eventually, we have to ask:
Okay. Then what should we build instead?
For me, education is more than exams, marks, degrees and getting a job.
Humanity has spent thousands of years learning, experimenting, making mistakes, discovering things, creating things and figuring out how the world works. Education is one of the ways we pass that collective understanding to the next generation so they can learn from it, question it, build upon it, contribute to society, and develop the tools to navigate their own lives effectively.
Apart from this I think people should actually have a life outside education too.
School shouldn't consume someone's entire existence just so they can prove they learned something.
Education should help people become better thinkers, creators, problem-solvers and human beings while giving them the freedom and time to explore the things that make their own lives meaningful.
Those are some of my starting beliefs.
They're not the final answer.
That's probably the most important part.
AEGF isn't the framework for Indian education. It's one attempt. And this subreddit isn't here to convince everyone that it's right.
It's here to question it.
Improve and Replace parts of it.
Or even come up with something completely different.
Basically whatever gets us closer to an education system that actually serves the people it exists for.
So if you've ever thought:
"Why do we do it this way?"
"What if we tried this instead?"
"This sounds good, but would it actually work in India?"
"There's something everyone is missing here."
You're exactly who I made this place for.
So let's figure this out together.
