The bittersweet feeling of being married
Today, I went home again for the first time in 3 months since getting married, and I didn’t expect it to hit me this hard.
Ang lungkot pala to see your old home, your old room, your parent or parents. Everything looked so familiar, but somehow you’re looking at it differently now.
Dati, this was the house I always came home to. I used to worry about coming home late because I knew dad would get mad. I knew which room was mine, where everything was, what the usual sounds of the house were. It was just home. I never really thought about the possibility that one day, I wouldn’t live here anymore.
And now, I’m sitting in my old room and realizing that I’m only visiting.
There’s something so bittersweet about knowing that you can’t just stay the night anymore because you have to go home to your husband. You have another home now. Another person waiting for you. Another life that you chose and are building together.
And I’m happy. I really am. I love my new life, I love being married, and I love having someone to come home to.
But I think a small part of me will always miss being my dad’s daughter.
Tonight, I’m feeling grateful, nostalgic, and a little heartbroken all at the same time. 🥹
