Olivia: a tale of betrayal and redemption
Some thoughts last night, based off my previous post
So Olivia is an OC of mine who came into the Hotel at the start of season 2 in place of Baxter and filled largely the same role up until the finale
There, she offered to help get them into VoxTek since being a high-ranking employee she has security clearance, and her motivation for doing so is that she feels VoxTek has nothing left to offer her at this point and feels that the Hotel brings greater benefits (we see in earlier episodes that she becomes so focused on her work that she forgets to eat and sleep, but Vaggie always brings her food and ensures she gets plenty of rest, and she ends up looking a lot healthier at the end of the season as a result)
However she ends up leading them into a trap, with Velvette and Valentino waiting to ambush them, and Olivia joining in, decking herself out in armor that Carmilla helped create for her. When asked why she betrayed them, she explains that she meant what she said earlier, but if Vox succeeds in conquering Heaven, the potential for research and experimentation with angels and their technology would be invaluable to her. (some dark implications there actually; she spent her afterlife researching and experimenting on demons, taking them apart to see how they worked, testing their limitations and capabilities, etc., and should she succeed in invading Heaven she will do the same to its inhabitants...)
Luckily they're defeated, and after their little celebration Olivia drags herself over, still injured from the fight, but not looking for revenge or anything. Instead she wants to come back to the Hotel
"...You're kidding right?"
She then explains how her betrayal was nothing personal, simply business. But now VoxTek REALLY has nothing left to offer her, and she doesn't feel she can rely on them after what happened either, and now that redemption has been proven possible and many Sinners are likely to come seeking it, there is great potential for her to carry out her research on it and in doing so, help others to find redemption, potentially redeeming her own sins by using her knowledge for the betterment of others instead of harming them for her own gain.
She also adds that denying her a chance for redemption when she is willing to make up for her past actions would go against their core belief that anyone can be redeemed.
"So you're just gonna go back to working at the Hotel like none of this happened and we're just supposed to be cool with that?!" Angel Dust, probably
"Precisely. (adjusts her glasses and walks off) Feel free to discuss your feelings about this in our next therapy session. (looks back) It may be a good idea to right down your current thoughts in your journal so that you don't forget them later on."
...I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up a somewhat divisive character among fans for this but you gotta admit, she does have a certain attitude to her 😅
But feel free to let me know what you think! (and if any of your OCs are allies of the Hotel, how do they feel about her doing all this?)
