Will I be responsible for clearing out my mothers rented accommodation?
My mother has 'been too fond of the drink' for the last 30+ years. She was not much of a mother to me if I am honest - only bothering to raise me when it suited her - and when she did it was terrible.
Anyway. She largely held it together for a long time. But 10 years ago she started developing health issues from alcohol.
The last two years it has gone beyond recognition. She isn't working or doing much of anything.
She has been to rehab, twice, and tells me everything she thinks I want to hear. But I know she is lying.
I 100% have compassion and empathy for anyone going through an addiction. But it is really hard to sit there and watch when they won't help themselves. Blame everyone for their problems - including you. Then make zero effort.
She isn't even 60 yet.
Anyway, I have already arranged her funeral after a very bad episode a few months back. I wanted a plan.
But now I'm wondering will I be responsible for cleaning out her flat? I was there last week, I did some cleaning when I was there. But it will need a skip! The landlord had a deposit so if they paid for a skip/ collection from the recycle centre and I did the labour?
Anyone any experience in this?
