Where is everyone?

Went out last night from 10-12:30 am. Went to a few bars, and just walked around. Everything was so empty. Where is everyone? There were plenty of places open with outdoor seating and no one around. I figured it was a Friday night and people would be out and about. Is that how it usually is, or are Friday nights not what they used to be?
