Let me describe the state of the art in AI, 2026 edition.

Anthropic makes what is arguably the best model on the planet. The engine is a marvel. Talking to it is the closest thing to magic I get in a day. And they wrapped it in an app whose speech-to-text stops recording mid-sentence, silently, for no reason at all. No sound. No indicator change I can catch. Nothing. It just quietly stops listening while I keep talking to a wall, and I only find out when half my message never existed.

And before anyone says "background noise, bro" — I tested this. I sat in a completely empty room. Dead silence. Staring at a wall like a psychopath, dictating slowly and clearly. It STILL cut out mid-sentence. It's not my environment, it's not my mic, it's the app.

When it does transcribe, the quality is comedy. I said "fender." It wrote "vendor for Ladies Assemble." I said "odometer." It heard "autometer." I dictate to Claude daily for actual work and I've just accepted that the model has to reverse-engineer my sentences like it's decrypting Enigma.

The truly insane part: this is a solved problem. Whisper has existed for years and runs smooth as butter. It never randomly stops. It nails technical terms. OpenAI shipped this ages ago. Anthropic — the company beating OpenAI at almost everything else — cannot ship dictation that survives one full sentence. The input layer of your flagship product could be vibe-coded in a weekend by one intern with a Whisper API key, and it would be better than what's shipping today.

It's a Bugatti Chiron with no seat. Absolute masterpiece of engineering, and you have to squat over the floor pan to drive it.

Fix. The. STT. That's it. That's the whole ask.
