Digital version recommendations?

Hi all, as I guess many here I can count Spirit Island as one of, if not the, favorite game in my library. I started playing with my boyfriend and a friend on base game, then I bought Horizons and Branch&Claw for myself. Unfortunately, the three of us live in different cities now, which makes playing together kind of difficult. I was meditating on suggesting to buy the digital version of the game on Steam, but I've read that it's not great for multiplayer. However I really like the steamlined UI from what I've seen. There's also the option of Tabletop Simulator, which would open up the possibility of playing other games. I also wish to use the digital game to play on my own, possibly on mobile as well, and use it to test the other expansions before buying physical copies. What's your experience with the two digital games and which do you think is the best fit for our group? Thank you all for the suggestions :))
