Sarah Brailey is a grassroots activist, independent researcher, and the appointed Historian for the Town and Village of Athens, New York. Born and raised in the Hudson Valley, Sarah has dedicated her life to 'reading the land' and uncovering the deep histories that standard textbooks omit. Her exhaustive fieldwork spans from mapping late Pleistocene land use to studying ancient stone features across the Northeast. Beyond the physical structures, Sarah’s true passion lies in the preservation of human memory and healing generational trauma through accurate history. She maintains close relationships and vital networks with tribal communities working closely with Tribal Historic Preservation Offices to restore Indigenous presence and truth to the public narrative.
