Are remote jobs damn near impossible to get?
I’m looking to make a move and have been looking at remote jobs (senior accountant and accounting manager level) and all say “100+ applicants”. In June I applied to 20 and didn’t hear back from one. I’m currently working at the senior accounting manager level with 10+ years experience. I don’t have my CPA and don’t plan to get it. No experience in public but I’ve worked in manufacturing and construction with multi entity experience in full cycle accounting, month-end close, audit, payroll, implementations galore, managing a team - lots of experience. Not a job hopper - at my current job for 5 years and previous job for 6.
Is it worth it to keep trying for remote roles? Or are they just really hard to get and only going to those with CPAs and public experience? I’m not in a hurry to find a new job but don’t want to waste time chasing remote jobs if I’m not going to get one. I’ve started tailoring my resume to the job posting since most hirings involve Ai screening now. I’m hoping that helps. I’ve also been working closer to the controller level and was a treasurer in a former role so I had to understate my resume a bit to not appear overqualified and be overlooked for that.
