Break in question ‘26 fwd hybrid
Hey all, I just picked up a new ‘26 FWD hybrid.
I know there are varying opinions on how to do the break in, but I mostly want to follow the manufacturer recommended method.
This is pretty simple. No hard acceleration/braking. No cruise control. No high speeds. No towing. For the first 1000.
My issue is I have a trip from Philly to Maine coming up the 3rd week of Sept.
Most of my driving is my work commute, which is only 11 miles round trip. So this is not going to get me anywhere close to 1K before my road trip.
My plan is to drive it conservatively in sport mode to get as many miles on the ICE engine as possible before the trip.
The big question is, should I go out of my way to take it on some longer drives to get as close as possible to 1K before the trip.
Or not worry too much about it and while I am on the highway during the trip make sure I don’t go over 70-75, no cruise control and try to vary speeds between 55-65 most of the way?
Second, I am pretty sure I will have hit 1K before my drive home. But I am still leaning to being conservative and driving it home as if it is still breaking in on the way home. Is this being overly cautious?
