Are 'honest' CEDH decks possible?

Meta

Played my first cedh tourney last night. I only had a bracket 4 deck as my strongest so I took it knowing that I was probably going to get rolled. And indeed, I got blown out on turn 2 by 30 minute Izzet Solitaire in one game, infinite turns by turn 3 in another, and Thassa'd by turn 3 in the third. I know cedh is all about fast mana, free spells, and deterministic combos, but are there any decent to strong cedh decks that are relatively 'fair' in their gameplan? Sorta like Eldlich archetype in Yugioh in terms of 'slow' play where the meta is lightning fast combo-heavy gameplay but Eldlich is a resource-heavy control/grind engine that slows the game to a crawl comparatively.

I assume such a deck would be stax or group slug heavy if it exists, but that's fine.
