Core branch students who got into software, how did you do it?

I’m currently in 3rd year of engineering in a core branch, but I’ve developed an interest in software. I want to start preparing seriously for placements.

For those currently in 3rd year, what are you focusing on what like DSA, development, projects, internships, etc.?

And for graduates who were from a core branch but got a software job, how did you make the switch? What did you learn, how did you prepare, and what package did you eventually get?

Would love to hear your actual journey and what you wish you had started earlier.😭im so frustrated
