How Unplayable Is This Game Now?

I'm sure this gets ask a lot, sorry. I've been scrolling the subreddit and have seen people start playing the game again. A groups of friends and I just recently played Gone Fishing. And while it was silly, it left more to be desired as a co-op horror. So I off-handedly suggested Phasmo since I already have the game bought.

I know there was a recent horrible update but I haven't played the game since last year. So I wanted some feedback before having them buy the game.
