Traveling to japan while on suboxone for pain management?

My husband and I want to spend 2 weeks in japan. He takes a small suboxone strip every day for pain management. Is it worth the anxiety and hassle or should we travel elsewhere less restrictive? I dont want to end up in Japanese prison or have my husband go without his medicine.
