Román and Mila storyline in Betty la fea -La Historia Continúa is terrible writing

Spoiler

Can we talk about how unhinged and uncomfortable the choice to pair Mila with Román actually is?

Beyond the fact that Román was the neighborhood bully who spent years tormenting and exploiting Betty, the actual dynamic of this relationship makes zero sense. Román is literally pushing 50, while Mila is early 20s. No actual 20-year-old woman is interested in dating a random guy nearly 30 years older than her—especially one who made her own mother's life a living hell.
Mila in the show mentions lowkey that the gap is 18 years but that math ain't matching at all. Wasn't Roman her mom's age?
It completely ruins the show for so many reasons:

An extremely uncomfortable dynamic: Having a middle-aged man who tormented the mother now date the young adult daughter feels deeply calculated, slimy, and wrong to watch unfold on screen.

Unrealistic character choices: It strains all believability. Expecting viewers to accept that a smart, modern early20s-year-old would fall for her mom's bully nearly three decades her senior just pushes past any grounded reality.

It trivializes Betty's trauma: It forces the audience—and Betty—to watch a toxic figure from her past invade her family dynamic through her own child. It’s not dramatic; it’s just miserable. Not to mention, becoming Mila's boyfriend before ever asking for Betty's forgiveness for the past trauma he caused.

It makes Mila impossible to root for: Instead of coming across as an independent young woman, Mila just looks completely blind to a massive red flag. It’s hard to stay invested in her character when her "rebellion" is this ridiculous. She had 0 empathy to her mom and what trauma Roman did to her.

It's lazy shock value: Instead of writing a complex love interest her own age, the writers relied on a bizarre age-gap plotline with a recycled minor villain just to stir up outrage. Again, weak lazy writing that will get them canceled to low viewings same as it happened to ecomoda.
