"Quicksilver" room in the DLC?

I'm in the DLC storyline right past >!Oasis room!<, post >!pseudogiant !<chase. There is a weird room full of what looks like quicksilver. It launches tentacle at you when you come close. Is there anything to do here, or is it just "flavor" anomaly?
