Geyser shared spaces

I have a job so I'm usually always AFK farming in sky. I always hang around at granny, bonfires, etc. I was really happy when I discovered the challenge spaces at geyser, cause that ment I could get some more candles on my afk candle run, since I don't have a lot of time to do normal candle runs.

I've been using them for a couple of weeks or so without any problems. Today I stayed afk at geyser as always, but midway I noticed that there was a lot of honking going on. There were some players that were frantically doing the 'no' emote, sneeze emote, scare emote, were using the spear from two embers to attack me and so on.

So my question is: is using the shared spaces to afk at geyser frowned upon now? /gen

This never happend before so I'm very confused
