Is combining business, travel and personal life on one YouTube channel a bad idea?
Hey guys, my name’s Volko. I’ve been building a YouTube channel around my life, business, travel and generally documenting what I’m doing.
Recently I decided to consolidate my videos and move everything over to my main Volko Rus channel instead of trying to grow multiple channels at once.
The channel is mostly built around me personally. I moved to Russia, I live here now, I document different parts of life here, travel, things I’m working on, and just generally the journey.
But business is also a massive part of my life and honestly a big part of why I moved in the first place.
I run businesses across different countries, I’m working on cross-border projects, AI, e-commerce, importing/exporting and a bunch of other stuff that naturally overlaps with the lifestyle content.
So I’m a bit stuck on whether I’m doing the right thing by keeping everything on one channel.
Would you guys personally:
A) Keep building one channel around the personal brand and let business, Russia, travel and everything else sit under that umbrella?
Or
B) Create a separate business channel where I mainly talk about entrepreneurship, AI, cross-border business, building companies, etc?
The reason I’m leaning towards one channel is because the topics overlap constantly anyway.
For example, I might make a video about opening a warehouse in Russia, travelling somewhere for business, dealing with suppliers overseas, or building a company from Russia. That’s technically business content, but it’s also part of my life and the overall story of the channel.
My only concern is whether YouTube prefers a much tighter niche and whether mixing business/lifestyle/travel could eventually hurt the channel.
I’d especially love to hear from anyone who has built a personality-led channel before.
Would you build one strong personal brand with a few related content pillars, or split the business content off completely?
