Forced pregnancy is a moral abomination. Abortion access is required through harm-minimization.

General debate

My moral framework is anchored in a simple principle: minimizing unnecessary harm. Under this framework, an entity only possesses moral status if it has the capacity to subjectively experience harm. If an entity does not have the neurological architecture to register suffering, preferences, or physical pain, it has no interests to protect.

The moral math is straightforward. Prior to neurological sentience, terminating a pregnancy causes zero actualized harm to the fetus because it lacks the biological apparatus to experience it. Conversely, denying an abortion inflicts guaranteed, severe harm on a fully sentient human being in the form of physical trauma, financial strain, and psychological distress.

To ban abortion is to deliberately choose the severe, actualized suffering of a fully sentient person to protect an entity with zero capacity to suffer. Under any functional framework, abortion is not just justified, prohibiting it is morally reprehensible because it deliberately maximizes human suffering.

Answer this: On what moral grounds do you justify inflicting guaranteed suffering on a conscious human to protect an entity that cannot suffer at all?
