Am I making it up, or when you blow dry your hair, it sheds less than if you let it air dry?

I have wavy hair but the wave pattern is different on top and bottom and left and right so if I'm going out for work or errands, I blow dry it.

I noticed that if I let it dry naturally it sheds more.
