I have been comparing prices for rhinoplasty in Turkey and the differences between prices offered by various clinics can sometimes be rather impressive.

While one clinic might offer relatively cheap treatment, the other may charge twice or three times as much for what seems to be the same procedure.

At least according to my understanding, the matter lies in the fact that rhinoplasty doesn't always denote the same operation depending on the patient.

Thus, a standard primary rhinoplasty is a world apart from the operation on a deviated septum, previously traumatized nose, highly asymmetrical nose or revision rhinoplasty.

Surgeon's experience and qualifications are another factor that appears to play an important role especially in case of revision surgeries or noses requiring some restructuring.

Finally, another aspect that is not always taken into account is the actual treatment package included in the price.

While some clinics offer everything including the surgery itself, the hospitalization, anaesthesia, tests, medications, hotel accommodation and transport, other may only cover the surgical procedure leaving all other costs to the patient.

This is why comparing two prices without actually comparing two treatment packages would be somewhat unreasonable.

Furthermore, patients often pay too much attention to price rather than asking such important questions as:

  • Who performs the procedure?
  • In which hospital does it take place?
  • Does it include anaesthesia?
  • How many follow-ups are covered?
  • How long should the patient remain locally after surgery?
  • What are the options in case of complications following discharge?

I wonder how other people who researched rhinoplasty abroad compared various clinics?

Was the main criterion the surgeon's results, reviews, price, hospital's requirements or something else?
