(25f, USA) I had a stillbirth in November. Got on the pill. Had light bleeding that only lasted for one day these past 2 months. Addicted to fentanyl in combination with medetomodine. Yesterday I found out i am pregnant. How do I go about this safely?

Physician Responded

Medetomodine is an alpha 2 agonist and the withdrawals cause massive tachycardia and hypertension.

Please only respond if you have experience/knowledge with this substance.

I am already on 120 mg methadone and have arythmia so going up on that isnt an option. Plus, since Medetomodine is the additive I am mainly worried about safely detoxing from, methadone will be of little help in that department since it is not an opioid.

I am prescribed .2 mg clonodine. But idk how many mg is safe to take during a detox from this drug without causing dangerously low BP / bradychardia / respiratory depression.

They told me they would have to admit me to the ICU if I chose to detox and specifically not to go to a rehab. But I lack proper insurance.

Please, I am almost 4 months pregnant. I just want an idea as to what they will do for me and my baby/ how likely it is for my unborn child to survive a detox from this crap. Is it safer to keep using?

Also, can a hospital prescribe sublingual precedex or is it true it's only available in IV solution? Can't hospitals special order drugs if i ask for a different form of the medication? Or is it an "it is what it is" scenario/ what's available has to be dealt with?
