Will a portal perform similarly to a ps remote play w/backbone?

Or does the portal have the console set up a local signal that’s stronger than over WiFi and through an app?

I’ve been thinking about getting a portal as my kiddo is 3 months old and more sentient. I want him to see less blood, violence, etc.

I mainly plan to just play on the couch ~25ft away from the PlayStation and router while my wife watches her shows or with children’s programming playing. We only have 1 living room/TV so we all need to split and share.
