AU Arts vs City of Calgary art classes?

Question

Hi! I would like to do some drawing and painting lessons recreationally and I was wondering which of these are the better option for someone like me?

I used to do a little bit of art when I was younger, but I haven't really worked on anything seriously in the past 5 or so years, so I'd say I'm a total beginner.

The cost for AU arts classes are $400+, I think upwards of $600 including supplies and GST, and the City of Calgary classes are about $200. I figure AU arts courses are more comprehensive of course, but they are a bit expensive for me and I'm not trying to become a professional or anything. At the same time, I do want to genuinely pick up real skills and learn good techniques, not just go in and do random stuff that I can't carry forward with me into the future. So I would be willing to save up for AU arts classes if the City of Calgary doesn't really offer good quality lessons.

If anyone has experience with these institutions, what would you recommend?
