Should he focus on CAT or placements?

The thing is one of my guy friend is preparing for cat exam and giving an attempt in next year for MBA to get into IIM's,as he is currently in 2nd year.

Though he studies in top tier 3 college but surely his parents weren't convinced at first but now he is re thinking his decision for better opportunities,the reason is he thought of looking for placement though it is not satisfying neither the curriculum is at his own college.

Is it worth it to re consider his decision of transfer or just continue the preparation for cat?
