34+ cut to 15 hours

QUESTION

I’m part time. My assistant manager isn’t allowed to make the schedules anymore, so now my manager does it. Since then my hours have changed drastically.

I have Sundays off. So they schedule me almost everyday, even if it’s a short shift, minus one week day, just because the system doesn’t have a bunch of hours.

Because of life circumstances, this September I’m able to finally go full time. And the store manager said he was all for me going full time, and that man can be picky.

But since I’d say, a couple weeks ago, the systems hours were cut short. And since then?? My hours have gone down so much and so quickly. Since I started this job, I worked every Tuesday for AD change. This week I don’t.

I want to know if this is normal behavior for Publix.

My brother worked for Publix months ago, (he didn’t like it so he quit) but for months he asked for full time and his managers said they would give it to him. But as he got closer to getting it, his hours got cut. And that’s when he quit, was basically right when they were gonna send him full time.

I talked to a coworker of mine who’s full time, and she said it feels like they do this to weed out the people who aren’t truly dedicated to Publix. But I’ve asked my managers many ways I can get better at my job, even when they tell me I already am. Basically, I’m trying. Real hard.

Just irritated and wondering if I’m thinking too hard on it.

Summary: hours cut short after consistant good hours, next month I can go full time due to life circumstances, am I thinking too hard?
