Is it weird if I try to reconnect with my therapist from 14 years ago?

(I checked the rules and i don't think this is against them x_x)

As a therapist, how would you feel / what would you prefer a client (from over a decade ago) do if they wanted to meet you?

I had a therapist about 14 years ago when I was in undergrad, who absolutely changed my life. We lost touch because she left for maternity leave and then never came back. I also left the country after completing my Masters so I never really had the chance to try find her again since then.

Now fast forward 14 years, I'm going back to the US to meet my parents (same city she's in). I was wondering if it would be weird or inappropriate to initiate contact and ask her for a coffee? For context, we're both women, both married with kids so it's 0 shady vibes, I just wanted to meet her again. She doesn't practice in the therapy space anymore and works in a totally different field now, from what I've understood from a quick Google search.

I've reconnected with a couple of my teachers from my uni days too who very happily agreed to meet with me, so on the one hand it feels kinda weird to contact my ex therapist for the same because it was a different relationship, but also it was all the same university so I'm not sure.

Grateful for any insight. Thanks!
