Do you think IT Help Desk / Support is an easy job to learn?

I've been using computers my whole life and I know quite a bit, and I think I could learn a lot more. Now I'm interested in, if I started from scratch, how long it would take me to learn enough to do a basic job as a junior IT help desk. Also, if there's anyone willing to teach me a few things about it, that would be nice (someone who's already working in this field). Also, once I learn, how long would it take to get a job somewhere?
