Is it really true that you meet someone when you least expect it?

Basically the title. I just want to ask about people’s experiences because I’ve been struggling with online dating for the last 8 months. I’ve kind of hit rock bottom in the sense that I keep getting my feelings hurt over and over again. I feel like I’m too emotional of a person to be able to move through dates like it’s no big deal. Even rejecting people makes me cry because I feel so bad doing it (because I’ve been rejected so many times and I know how terrible it feels).

All in all it feels like there’s no winning with online dating. Not all the men on there are terrible but I have not had a positive experience on there yet. I’m just not having fun anymore. I’m going to delete the apps and work on my small talk skills and placing myself in new spaces and exploring new hobbies and activities. I’ve realized that for the last couple of months or so dating has become the exciting “thing” in my life and it really has just set me up for heartbreak. I’m 25F, never been in a relationship. I’ve been told I’m kind and above average in looks but online dating just sucks.

I guess I just gotta get off the apps and get busier. If anyone wants to yap I’d love to chat. All my friends are coupled up so it’s been especially hard to talk to them about this stuff without feeling like they’re talking down to me in some way.

Anyway, onwards I guess.
