with our current trade war and just americans in general. ITs time to rethink our automotive industry.
Just giving a few ideas of what I think should happen now
1st no more quotas/tariffs on BEV from anywhere. Since not a single ev is made in Canada we should be open to all. It might make them build plants in Canada if demand is there. Can keep the quota on HEV and regular ICE vehicles. OK I guess the dodge charger is made in Canada, I have never see one on the roads.
2nd. Certifications to drive on our roads Make it either the current North American certifications OR European certification. As long as they have one or the other certification they can sell them here. If the US allows them in all they have to do is pass the North American certificates now and can still sell old and new models.
I know there are some but what about our automotive industry and the workers. Well you have only 1 EV made in Canada, the big 3 quality has gone down and price has gone up a lot. Its also a free and open market. We the people should choose who survives and who fails. Maybe it will force the big 3 to make better vehicles and lower costs again. You can still get your big ford truck or SUV, or you can get an EV. The choice is yours in the end.
